MAL freestanding tiled stove no. 1676 with simple cast-iron frame and multi-coloured hand-glazed tiles in refreshing shades. End-to-end cooking and heating compartment at the top. Decorated in bold, fresh Art Deco style. The cast-iron parts with the MAL inscription were rarely used in Switzerland and sourced from the semi-finished product supplier Machul Aron Lämle in Bretten, Germany. -

Tiled stove no. 90 - Perler Ofen/ Built by Gebrüder Lincke from Zurich, many historic documents available. D.R.P. No. 80109 (Deutsches Reichspatent/German Imperial Patent) P. No. 8309 (in Switzerland). Unsightly and unusual soot connector is moved to the back wall. There are very few stoves where all the doors are hinged on the left not the right, as is usually standard. These doors on the left-hand side (“linke” in German) were made by the Gebrüder Lincke; were they poking fun at the user or was this an early version of a “marketing USP”? -

Tiled stove no. 1206 - Perler Ofen/ Lucelle stove circa 1900. This type of frame was originally produced in the foundries of “Lucelle’s Iron King”, the L. Paravicini ironworks (1817–1870) in the Jura. When the works were bought by the “Gesellschaft der von Roll’schen Eisenwerke” in 1883, the famous Lucelle cast-iron models were moved to their Klus ironworks in Balsthal, which immediately set about expanding its cast-iron stovemaking operations and producing the popular braided framework. -
